Get ready for the ending playlist of 2017, filled with our favourite tracks of the year. For the past 12 months, hip-hop has blessed us with bangers from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Playboi Carti, 21 Savage and more. We've Milly Rocked in New York with Playboi Carti, Slided into the weekend with Calvin Harris and witnessed Cardi B making history with her Bodak Yellow, becoming the first female rapper scoring a solo #1 since 1998.

2017 has been the year of the underground. There is a new generation flourishing, pushing our culture forward with music coming straight from their boys room to the masses. The new class of SoundCloud rappers has proven their potential on another level, building fanbases overnight. There is a whole underground of fresh artists, new mixtapes and subgenres to keep up with. Buzzing rappers like Smokepurpp, XXXTentacion, Trippie Redd and Tay-K are predicted to become the hot topic of 2018, already making waves with millions of SoundCloud plays. These young rappers has shown us that you don’t need to be an established artist or have a record label to become famous.

When it comes to Scandinavian music, 2017 has been the year of Norwegian Hip Hop. Vibrant artists like Karpe Diem, Arif, Unge Ferrari and Philip Emilio are putting Norway’s hip hop scene on the map with an authentically homegrown sound. In addition to the more established artists, a new wave of newcomers dare to follow a creative path in music. We see a society that slowly but steadily goes into an era of risk taking and rule breaking, which also defines the current Norwegian music scene. It seems like 2017 has united a desire to escape the boundaries of a 9-5 living that has resulted in musicians and other creatives branching out and finding their own path. 2017 was not only a year for the big names, but a full-on breakthrough for the new generation.

Below we have listed 40 songs that defined music in 2017. Enjoy <3
