Pasha is finishing 2017 off right. The emerging rapper has released a number of singles the past year that has led to his latest hit-song Love Pasha that dropped earlier this month. With his funky hip-hop beats and charismatic energy, Pasha has quickly become a peoples favorite. The upcoming year he is already booked for the much anticipated Oslo-based festival Kadetten, playing alongside big names like Tyler The Creator and Ty Dolla Sign. From dropping his debut album Bodega in 2016 to topping Spotify's viral list, Pasha is one to keep your eyes on as we move into 2018. FUTUR Magazine caught a talk with the talented artist to get a glimpse inside his world.
Tell us a little about yourself, who is Pasha?
I’m a cute ass God from Rykkinn, Norway! I came to this earth to make people feel good and spread this dope music I make.
How did you get into music?
MTV. When we came to Norway my grandmother only watched MTV because she didn't understand Norwegian. It was the only thing on at anytime. I remember rapping Eminem songs in front of the mirror for hours. When I got older I started to record my own songs and build a home studio.
What typifies the sound of your music?
My music is mostly positive and fun. My goal is to make people feel a good energy when my music comes on. And from being a huge fan of funk and disco I try to put that in my sound with my own flavour to it.
Tell us about your creative process, what is the first thing you do when an idea pops up in your head?
The first thing I do is write it down or recode it on my phone so I don't forget it. Most of the time I’m lying in bed almost asleep and then an idea or a vers hits me and I need to write it down before I forget it. When I’m the studio I just freestyle over the beat 10 min maybe and write then the cool shit I just said and give it structure, or I have a idea for a song before I go in the studio. It all depends on what I’m doing og going through.
What have been your favourite moments since you started with music?
Definitely touring! This year I've been all around Norway doing shows and it's crazy too see people you have never met before fuck with your music. We've even played in Polen. It's a funny point in my career where some cities go nuts when you play and some crowds in other cities don't even know who the fuck you are. It has helped me to understand that I got a long way to go and to keep building this.
What or who influences you in music?
Dope music and artists, new people, new places and different situations in my life. My friends and the circle I’m around also has a huge impact on me.
You have made a lot of music in a short period of time. What would you say is your favorite song and why?
I don't know. It depends on where I’m at in life at the moment. Some days I love Do That, other days Tie Dye and some nights I'm in love with Prettyboi Bounce.
If you could do a collab with any artist, who would it be?
Kanye, Rick Rubin, Lido, Teddy Riley.
What are your hopes for the future?
I want to become a blend of Will Smith and Kendrick haha.
